This section gives you information on where to watch sports, where to do sports and where you can relax alone, with your partner or with all your family.
The best place to watch sports is probably live at the stadium: If you like football, enjoy a game of Bern's Super League Football Club, the Young Boys (YB), and let yourself become addicted: www.bscyb.ch/
If you rather like it cold and icy, go and experience a game of Bern's hockey team, the SCB Schlittschuh Club Bern: www.scb.ch
And if you would rather see international football, go to a pub. Try e.g. Mr. Pickwick Pub, Wallgasse.
A comprehensive directory of the addresses of sports clubs and organisations, lidos, swimming pools and artificial ice-rinks plus a link-directory are available from the sports department of the municipality:
Sportamt Stadt Bern - Database of sports courses (excl martial arts and water sports)
Are you looking for somewhere nearby to rest, relax, take a walk, play? The Town Nursery runs almost 4 million square metres of open space. Information on the extensive choice of parks and playgrounds is available at: www.bern.ch/leben_in_bern/freizeit or on the online city map at: www.stadtplan.bern.ch.
Parks in the city centre: Rosengarten, Kleine Schanze, Münsterplattform, Grosse Schanze, Botanischer Garten (stars on map)
For a full list of all public gardens maintained by the Town Nursery, click here.
If you prefer to have your own little private park, consider leasing an allotment (German: Schrebergarten), which by the way is quite traditional in Switzerland. Information on leasing an allotment is available from the Town Nursery:

Bern has got two main zoo: the Dählhölzli zoological garden and the Bear Park where every day hundreds of people watch the city's heraldic animal tolling around in their species-adapted park. Open 365 days per year, entrance is free.

The association Spielen in Bern offers a wide choice of different leisure time activities for children, among them are three public playgrounds where children can not only play outside, but also inside doing handicrafts or play games. A great time is guaranteed, for the children as well as their parents.
